1. Extract the image

Verify the SHA-256 of the downloaded .img.xz, then extract: xz -d purealbum-appliance.img.xz

2. Flash to disk

Write the .img to your target SSD/USB drive with balenaEtcher (GUI) or dd. Warning: the target disk will be erased.

3. Boot the machine

Attach the disk to an x86_64 machine and boot from it. First boot initializes the database and services (1–2 minutes). When ready, the banner printed to the screen or serial console shows the assigned IP address.

4. Open the UI

Visit http://<device-ip>/ in your browser, or http://purealbum.local/ on the same LAN (mDNS; supported by macOS and most Linux systems). Connect your NAS/SMB music folders and start the scan.
